What is doTERRA's Loyalty Rewards Program? : The Lightsome Life ...

This is essentially doTERRA?s Customer Appreciation Program.

For those who choose to build the business, this is essential, BUT?for the many others who simply choose to use the product, this is your avenue to accumulate Reward Points (product credit) for your loyalty in purchasing doTERRA products on a monthly basis.

Your rewards will increase on a quarterly basis.? As seen in the image below:

When you enroll as a wholesale member (IPC), you can choose to do so with an Enrollment Kit.? The larger the kit, the higher percentage in Loyalty Reward Points you start out with.

For example, the Diamond Kit ($2295) starts you at 25% Loyalty Reward Percentage and also gives you $400 in product credit to use toward any doTERRA products after being on the Loyalty Rewards Program for 2 months.? This is a way to fast track yourself to the highest percentage return for any of your expenses.

The smallest kit that qualifies you for the Fast Track Program would be the Natural Solutions Kit ($550) or also the Premium Essential Oil Kit ($515).? With these kits you receive 100 Loyalty Reward Points and begin at 15% Loyalty Reward Percentage.

When I started using doTERRA, I began with the Family Physician Kit ($150).? I began at 10% Loyalty Rewards Percentage and it took me a year to get to 30% return.? Knowing what I know now and truly loving ALL the products, I wish I would have started with a higher enrollment kit, but we do what we can, right?

Longtime MMA figure Jeff Blatnick dies

Jeff Blatnick, a longtime figure in MMA as a judge, official and announcer, died after complications from heart surgery at the age of 55.

Blatnick was involved with the UFC from its early days. He was the commentator for UFC 4 through UFC 32, and as UFC commissioner was instrumental in the sport's evolution into the regulated sport we know today. He stuck with the sport as a well-respected judge.

Nick Lembo, the head of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, remembered Blatnick as key to the growth of MMA.

"Jeff will always be a crucial part of the formation and growth of MMA. He was a great judge and even refereed here. Far more than that, he was one of the best men I ever was graced with the pleasure of calling my friend," Lembo said to Cagewriter.

"I just spoke to him last week when he was appointed as a judge by the State of Washington Commission to officiate December 8 for the UFC on FOX Show," UFC vice president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner said via email. "Very sad. He was one of the pioneers of the sport and was there at the very beginning of MMA in 1993. He was involved in formulating the Unified Rules of MMA and was one of the top MMA judges in the world."

UFC president Dana White also remembered Blatnick by tweeting, "RIP Jeff Blatnick."

Before Blatnick started with MMA, he was a highly decorated wrestler. He qualified for the Olympic team in 1980, but didn't compete because of the boycott. In 1982, he was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. He fought back to make the Olympic team again, and Blatnick won Olympic gold in 1984. Though a return of cancer forced his retirement, he continued to support wrestling as a coach and commentator.

Everything is Connected in "Cloud Atlas" | Triangle Arts and ...

Cloud Atlas

Hollywood films are rarely as ambitious as ?Cloud Atlas,? the collaboration between ?Matrix? directors Lana and Larry Wachowski and ?Run Lola Run? helmer Tom Tykwer. When you?re lucky enough to have Tom Hanks as the lead, however, a movie can be as daring as it wants to be.

The filmmakers, jamming almost every single genre imaginable into one massive film, seem to be trying to say everything possible about life into one movie. It?s no small feat to accomplish, yet the Wachowskis and Tykwer pulled it off, creating the best film any of the trio have made since the ?90s ended.

Based on the 2004 novel by David Mitchell, ?Cloud Atlas? juggles six stories, each set in a different time period, from the nineteenth century, 1970s San Francisco, present day London, a ?Blade Runner? looking New Seoul in the 22nd century, to a post-apocalyptic world where language itself has evolved. All of these segments involve underdogs struggling against a higher power, each connected by actions that ripple across time. ?Atlas? supposes that a killer in one life can become a hero in another, depending on the choices they make. Hanks and the other stars, including Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Sturgess, and Hugo Weaving play characters of different nationalities, races, and in some cases gender. Weaving in particular undergoes the most dramatic of changes, playing a Nurse Ratchett-like overseer of a nursing home and a green-faced Mad Hatter-type entity who acts as the devil on Hanks? shoulder in the post-apocalyptic segment.

At almost three hours, ?Cloud Atlas? requires a little patience, at least at first. The film throws you into the fray, and the result can be a little disorienting at first. ?Atlas? spends a lot of time giving the audience a chance to gather their bearings, but stick with it and you won?t be sorry. Some high-minded films can veer off and become pretentious like ?Tree of Life,? but that?s not the case with ?Atlas.? Yes, the film is bold, high-minded and has some very lofty goals it wants to achieve, but things remain just mainstream enough to keep from turning off most of the audience. The tendency to go mainstream makes ?Atlas? easier to digest, but it also feels like the Wachowskis and Tykwer chose to be safe instead of veering too far into art house territory.

It?s easier to figure out everything going on and how each segment connects with the others as the segments unfold. But it isn?t until the very end that everything truly becomes cohesive, the result of which is a swirling mass of ideas about life, love and consequences.

Everything is connected in ?Cloud Atlas,? and while the times may change, the things that make people good or evil doesn?t. It may take some people a few lifetimes to get it right, but in the end, everyone has a chance at redemption.

Apple slims down iMac, eliminates DVD drive

(AP) ? Apple unveiled a new version of its iMac desktop computer that's one-fifth the thickness of the old model around the edges.

At 5 millimeters around the edges, the new iMac is thinner than most stand-alone computer monitors.

"There is an entire computer in here," Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said Tuesday as he unveiled the new iMac to a cheering audience.

The new iMac bulges in the back, however. Schiller did not say how much.

The new model achieves its severe thinness in part by eliminating the optical disc drive. Apple has been leaving those drives out of its most recent laptop models as well. The original iMac was one of the first computers to lack a floppy disk drive, something that is now rare among PCs.

An iMac model with a 21.5-inch screen will start shipping in November for $1,299 and up, Schiller said. A 27-inch version will start at $1,799.

Apple also introduced its Fusion Drive, which combines flash and hard drive storage in one interface. In doing so, the hybrid combines the faster speed of flash memory and the higher capacity of regular hard drives. Apple says it's nearly as fast as flash memory on its own and is available as an option instead of the regular hard drive.

As Schiller introduced the new iMacs, he showed on a giant display how the iMac has shrunk over the years.

The best ways to catch recruiters' eyes p1 - Military Transition ...

While you?re sitting at your computer sending off r?sum?s in response to ads, employers often are on the prowl for people who are out and about, staying up to date in their field, showing initiative and making it easy for them to find the best and the brightest. ?We attend all types of meetings from the large, international, related medical meetings like the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Diabetes Association to specialized meetings like the Food and Drug Law Institute,? says Kim First, chief executive at The Agency Worldwide, which specializes in jobs in life sciences.

You may not be looking in this field, but no matter what your industry, it does you good to be seen and heard by those on the lookout for the best in your line of work. Think about where people you want to connect with would hang out:

What conferences do they attend?

Texas A&M University?s Mays Business School gives tips on conference attendance in its online article ?6 Musts When Attending Professional Conferences.?

What journals do they read?

This is where you can find out about events you may not have known about otherwise. If you subscribe, don?t forget the tax benefit. Your subscription may be deductible as an unreimbursed employee expense.

Do they belong to professional organizations?

The job-search and human resources website Weddles.com sells a guide to 3,000 professional associations (WEDDLE?s Guide to Association Web Sites, $49.95). Not only do the associations facilitate networking, but many also maintain robust job boards.

What LinkedIn groups do they belong to?

A colleague told me about an out-of-work chief information officer who is ?having great success getting into companies through side doors rather than, as he calls it, ?throwing the r?sum? over the wall? in response to an ad.? When he discovers an opening, he uses LinkedIn to find someone he knows who knows someone at that company, gets a referral to a top exec and contacts that person directly. If he does submit an application, he gets a contact to recommend him.

You Don't Have to Be Stressed ? By Stress Management Expert ...

Stress management advice mental health emotional wellbeing Suffolk

Charlie Damonsing is a stress management expert who works with both individuals and organisations to reduce stress, improve well-being, increase motivation and raise productivity levels.

In this article, Charlie explores the difference between healthy and excessive levels of stress, how to recognise the early warning signs of stress and ways to build mental, emotional and physical resilience.

You Don?t Have to Be Stressed ? By Stress Management Expert Charlie Damonsing of Ipswich, Suffolk, East Anglia

There is no doubt that for many of us, life at the moment is stressful. Lack of jobs and job security, a faltering economy, increasing family responsibilities such as looking after older parents and children staying at home longer, etc. There are any number of factors that can cause stress in our lives.

I was recently talking to a senior manager in a large local firm, who juggles work and three school age children. She told me ?I always have a headache, I have never slept well and I drink half a bottle of wine every night. I thought that was normal!? This got me thinking. Are we getting so used to being stressed, that a constant headache and bad sleep is now considered normal?

Healthy ? or excessive stress?

A certain amount of stress is good for us, it gets us up in the morning, creates focus, motivation and activity. However, for each of us there is a point at which more stress is no longer helpful to us and in fact can become harmful. This is the point that we all have to become aware of for ourselves.

What I call ?low level? and persistent stress can be just as dangerous, as one-off stressful events such as losing your job, moving house, getting divorced etc. By low level, I mean the frustrating daily commute to work, the drama of getting the family out of the door every morning, the extra demands at work as we are all being asked to do more with less resources, the financial worries at the end of each month. The accumulation of all these factors can cause harmful stress.

Now, our bodies are very clever. When things aren?t right, our bodies will tell us. However, from what the senior manager told me, some of us are not listening. A headache, not sleeping well and drinking too much are all signs that something is not right, and it is up to us to notice this in ourselves and do something about it.

Noticing the early warning signs?

Stress can have physical, mental, emotional and behavioural symptoms. Physical factors include a change in sleep patterns, our eating habits or energy levels as well as common illnesses such as colds, headaches or back ache. Mental and emotional signs may include increasing sadness, anxiety or feeling afraid. Behavioural signs of stress are most commonly anger, irritability and mood swings. The point here is that we all have an early warning system in operation, so that we can spot when we are getting stressed, and we need to take notice.

For some it is a badge of honour to be stressed. I trained as an accountant in a big firm in London, and certainly in the 1990s if you weren?t stressed you weren?t working hard enough. It was normal to never have enough time, always be rushing about, having too much to do and working long hours.

We now know that this behaviour leads to burnout and serious illness. Excessive levels of stress are not sustainable over a period of time. I know that there are adrenaline junkies who thrive on pressure, deadlines and high demands. However, they too need to make sure that there is balance in their lives, because it is impossible to maintain that level of stress without doing some damage.

Reducing stress by building resilience

I have spent a lot of time recently in businesses talking about building resilience. This is all about making sure you are building up your physical and mental health so that you have reserves to call on when the inevitable stresses come along.

I remember being puzzled by this many years ago, at the height of my own stress. If I was stressed because I had a very demanding job, then why would what I ate and the amount of exercise I did make a difference? I just couldn?t see the connection. I now know that being physically and mentally fit enables me to deal with my demanding job because my body and mind have everything they need to work effectively.

So building resilience is about doing all the good stuff around lifestyle, to improve your overall health and wellbeing. This includes exercising, eating well and getting enough sleep.

You can also improve your mental and emotional fitness; take steps to boost your confidence and self esteem, make sure your relationships are working for you, change any negative thinking habits and do things you enjoy regularly. Taking time to have fun is time very well spent, and will be helping to build your resilience.

The Mind Sanctuary?s directory of experts can help you build your mental, emotional and physical fitness. Find activities and therapies which appeal to you and start learning how to manage your stress.

Pussy Riot members transferred to prison colonies

(AP) ? A lawyer for the two jailed Pussy Riot band members says they have been transferred to prison colonies hundreds of miles from Moscow to serve their sentence.

Mark Feygin said Monday that Maria Alekhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were transferred during the weekend from Moscow prison, where they were kept since March. Feygin said prison authorities informed him that Alekhina had been sent to the Perm region in the Urals and Tolokonnikova to the central province of Mordovia. He could not confirm the information with his clients.

Alekhina, Tolokonnikova, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, were convicted of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred in August for performing a protest prayer against President Vladimir Putin in Moscow's main cathedral in February, and given two-year sentences. Tale of the Tape

Darrell Issa holding forth at his Oct. 10 hearing on the Benghazi attack Darrell Issa holding forth at his Oct. 10 hearing on the Benghazi attack

Tonight, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will debate foreign policy. They?ll argue about last month?s fatal assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. They?ll pretend to have figured out the world. And most of us, committed to one guy or the other, will play along.

We?re kidding ourselves. The Benghazi attack should humble us. Not just because our ambassador and three aides were killed, but because all of us?even those who thought they were uncovering the truth behind a lie?were wrong about what happened.

In the days after the assault, spokesmen for the Obama administration linked it to an anti-Muslim video that had triggered riots elsewhere. Republicans accused the administration of drawing this conclusion because it suited Obama?s worldview. It reduced the attack to a matter of diplomacy and, in Romney?s words, ?apologizing.? Liberals had rushed to believe what they wanted to believe.

As early accounts of a protest at the consulate collapsed, Republicans substituted their own story. The video, they explained, was irrelevant. Instead, the attack had been plotted by allies of al-Qaida to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11. This story, too, suited the worldview of its advocates. It reduced the Benghazi incident to a matter of security, warfare, and refusing to apologize. And, like the protest story, it has unraveled.

The intelligence from Libya was confused all along. The attack took place in the midst of uprisings against the video across the Muslim world, aimed particularly at U.S. embassies. The rage, though real, was ignited and stoked by anti-American extremists. That?s how it often is with mob violence: One man?s motivation is another man?s pretext. In Benghazi, witnesses saw attackers and onlookers. The problem was figuring out the relationship between them. The CIA?s initial assessments suggested a hybrid scenario: a demonstration ?spontaneously inspired by the protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo" that "evolved into a direct assault" by extremists.

If you look back at the administration?s early statements, you?ll see signs of this uncertainty. Spokesmen talked about the video in the context of the Muslim riots generally. On Sept. 14, ABC?s Jake Tapper asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney whether this was true in Benghazi. ?We certainly don't know,? said Carney. In her now-infamous tour of the Sunday talk shows on Sept. 16, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice parroted CIA assessments, asserting that a protest at the consulate ?seems to have been hijacked? by ?extremists who came with heavier weapons.? On Sept. 18, Carney repeated that the video had ?caused the unrest in Cairo? and ?precipitated some of the unrest in Benghazi.? But he added, ?What other factors were involved is a matter of investigation." On Sept. 20, Obama said protests over the video ?were used as an excuse by extremists to see if they can also directly harm U.S. interests."

On Sept. 26, Libya?s president, Mohammed Magarief, told NBC News that the video ?has nothing to do with this attack.? But he offered no evidence other than the sophistication of the weapons and tactics. A week later, a former intelligence chief for the Libyan rebels echoed Magarief?s assertion, but again added no evidence.

The Obama administration?s story began to shift during a State Department conference call on Oct. 9, when a reporter asked what had ?led officials to believe for the first several days that this was prompted by protests against the video.? A department official replied, ?That was not our conclusion.? This was a renunciation of the protest story, not the video?s relevance. But nobody noticed. The right-wing mediasphere erupted with cries of vindication that the video had ?nothing to do? with the attack. The next day, Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, opened a hearing on the controversy by falsely claiming the State Department had denied that ?this assault was part of a reaction to a video or the like.? Issa offered his own single-cause theory: ?In fact, it was September 11th. ? It was that anniversary that caused an organization aligned with al-Qaida to attack and kill our personnel.?

Issa?s theory became Republican gospel. On Oct. 14, Sen. Lindsey Graham, a leading Republican voice on foreign policy, said, ?the video had nothing to do with? the attack. On Oct. 18, Charles Krauthammer wrote: ?The video? A complete irrelevance. It was a coordinated, sophisticated terror attack, encouraged, if anything, by Osama bin Laden?s successor, giving orders from Pakistan to avenge the death of a Libyan jihadist.? Yesterday on Fox News, Bill Kristol said ?no one is quarreling? with the ?fact? that ?the video had nothing to do with it.?

Indeed, that?s what the Washington press corps was reporting. On Oct. 10, Tapper, citing the State Department conference call, said the video ?apparently had absolutely nothing to do with the attack.? On Oct. 13, the New York Daily News reported that the department had said the ?attack had nothing to do with the film.? On Oct. 14, a New York Post column said, ?even the White House now admits? the video ?had nothing to do with? the attack. Bob Woodward declared on Fox News that ?We now know [the video] had virtually nothing to do with what happened in Benghazi.? Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post?s fact-checking referee, said the attack ?appears unrelated to initial reports of anger at a video.? And a day after moderating the second Obama-Romney debate, CNN?s Candy Crowley said the administration had conceded that the attack ?didn?t have anything to do with the tape.?

Smoke inhalation is the major cause of death in fire victims due to cyanide poisoning. However, new research presented at CHEST 2012, the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, shows that a new antidote, cobinamide, may help reverse the effects of cyanide toxicity.

Researchers from multiple institutions, including the University of California Irvine Medical Center, exposed six ventilator-supported New Zealand white rabbits to cold smoke breaths until toxic carbon monoxide levels were achieved, concurrent with intravenous cyanide infusion. Intravenous cobinamide was administered in treatment arm animals and compared with control responses.

Results showed that intravenous cobinamide reversed cyanide toxicity in these animals in the face of smoke-induced carbon monoxide exposure, without evident adverse effects. Researchers concluded that cobinamide shows promise as a potential antidote for cyanide poisoning in smoke inhalation victims and that it could potentially be administered in mass casualty exposure scenarios.

This study was presented during CHEST 2012, the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, held October 20 25, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Syria has long, tumultuous history in Lebanon

BEIRUT (AP) ? Syria has a long and tumultuous history of meddling into Lebanese affairs. For much of the past 30 years, the seven-times-smaller Lebanon has lived under Syrian military and political domination. Damascus has often stirred tensions within Lebanon's explosive sectarian mix of Christians and Muslims to advance its regional interests, including during the country's 15-year civil war that ended in 1990. Syria's powerful allies in Lebanon include the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah. Important milestones affecting the Syria-Lebanon relationship:

SYRIA'S CIVIL WAR: Since the uprising against President Bashar Assad began in February 2011, Lebanon has been steadily drawn into the unrest ? a troubling sign for the country with political parties rooted in various Christian and Muslim sects, many of which are armed. While Syria's revolt has intensified between predominantly Sunni rebels and Assad's regime ? dominated by Alawites, an offshoot Shiite group ? Lebanon has seen a steady flow of refugees from Syria, with frequent street clashes along its northern border. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who heads a government dominated by Hezbollah and other pro-Syrian groups, has led a policy of "disassociation" from its influential neighbor. Damascus has accused Sunni groups in Lebanon of supporting rebels by trying to establish a supply line to anti-regime fighters across Lebanon's northern border.

Tensions between Beirut and Damascus deepened in August, after an arrest of former Lebanese Information Minister Michel Samaha, one of Syria's most loyal allies in Lebanon. A senior Lebanese police official, speaking anonymously because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said Samaha confessed to having personally transported explosives in his car from Syria to Lebanon to kill Lebanese. A military court indicted Samaha; Syrian Brig. Gen. Ali Mamlouk, a close aide of Assad, was indicted in absentia on charges of furnishing the explosives.

___

POLITICAL ASSASSINATIONS: Political assassinations in Lebanon have occurred with impunity for decades, and Syria has been blamed for many of the killings. In 2005, Syria was widely accused of involvement in the killing of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, a wealthy businessman and an influential Sunni politician. Hariri was hailed in Lebanon for rebuilding Beirut after the 15-year civil war. Following his death in a car bomb explosion, Damascus was forced to withdraw its troops and Syria's grip in Lebanon began to slip. The U.N.-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon has indicted four Hezbollah members as suspects in the Hariri assassination. Hezbollah denies involvement in Hariri's killing and has refused to extradite the suspects.

Many Lebanese residents accused Assad's regime of being behind Friday's assassination of Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan, a Sunni, who headed the intelligence division of Lebanon's domestic security forces that has been probing the assassination plot against Hariri. Al-Hassan and his agents have been credited with identifying Samaha, the former information minister, as Syria's link to Lebanon. Damascus has condemned the bombing.

___

HEZBOLLAH: The Iran-backed Hezbollah has been Syria's most powerful ally in Lebanon, particularly since Damascus ended its military presence in Lebanon seven years ago. The Shiite militant group has dominated Lebanese politics for more than a decade and is now in control of the government. In 2006, Hezbollah gained support from Sunnis and Christians during a 34-day war with Israel, although Lebanon's southern villages and towns and the predominantly Shiite suburbs of Beirut sustained heavy damage.

Opponents of Assad's regime say Syria's embattled president has maintained his influence in Lebanon through allies such as Hezbollah.

Since the beginning of the Syrian uprising, Hezbollah has sought to distance itself from the turmoil in Syria, although there have been allegations that the group has sent fighters to help Assad's regime fight rebels. Hezbollah's leader, Sheik Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, has not publicly sanctioned any operations in support of Assad, and warned the mayhem in the neighboring country was out of the group's control.

___

TROOPS ON THE GROUND: Lebanon's 15-year civil war ended in 1990 with Syrian forces defeating opponents, controlling large parts of the country and installing allied governments in Beirut. Syrian forces moved into Lebanon in 1976 as peacekeepers after the country got engulfed in civil war between Christian and Muslim militias.

Syrians were drawn into the conflict, and clashed with the Israeli troops after the 1982 invasion aimed at driving out Palestinian guerrillas. In 2000, Bashar Assad became president of Syria, succeeding his late father, Hafez Assad. Israel withdrew from South Lebanon, increasing pressure on Syria to leave. Syrian troops pulled out five years later, after sweeping street protests following Hariri's assassination. Many in Lebanon and its Western-backers blamed Syria for the killing. Damascus has denied involvement.

Boyd notches 3 TDs in No. 14 Clemson 38-17 win

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) ? It was easy to spot the happiest guy in No. 14 Clemson's locker room ? defensive coordinator Brent Venables.

Venables had spent most of his first season watching his Tigers struggle against opponents big and small. But with one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's best players in Logan Thomas in to lead Virginia Tech, Clemson's defenders put together their best effort of the season.

The Tigers got three interceptions ? two off of Thomas ? and made a pair of fourth-down stops in a 38-17 victory over the Hokies on Saturday.

Clemson (6-1, 4-1 ACC) came in 10th in the 12-team conference in yards given up at more than 445 yards a game. Virginia Tech (4-4, 2-2) got 406 in this one, all but 100 of those by Thomas, but it was the Tigers' defense that turned things around against the fired-up Hokies.

"We don't have to play like Alabama yet," Venables said with a grin. "Although we'd like to. But we can definitely play better than we have up to this point and hopefully, today was a sign of moving in the right direction."

Jonathan Meeks had two interceptions, including one he took back for a 74-yard touchdown off Thomas.

"I knew right away," Thomas said of his sailing throw.

Tajh Boyd ran for two touchdowns and passed for another for the Tigers, who were held to their lowest offensive output of the season at 295 yards. Boyd thought the team didn't come out as strong as he hoped for their first game in two weeks. Still, Boyd said, in other seasons, such a showing would lead to defeat. "I think it shows how far we've come," he said.

Andre Ellington had a 12-yard touchdown run and 96 yards for the Tigers. All-American receiver Sammy Watkins has his most productive game this season with eight catches for 84 yards.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney knew it was the defense that led the way in Clemson's third straight victory over Virginia Tech. "They had a great performance," Swinney said. "From the sidelines, I believe it was their best effort."

Boyd was 12 of 21 for 160 yards, 131 fewer than he averaged coming in.

Clemson tied a school record with its 11th straight home victory, something it had done twice before from 1937-42 and 1989-91. To match the mark this time, the Tigers had to count on their usually unreliable defense as their high-flying offense was largely grounded.

Thomas had 207 yards passing and a 29-yard TD throw to Corey Fuller. He also rushed for 99 yards, including a 19-yard scoring run in the final quarter that gave the Hokies hope of a rally down 31-17.

But Virginia Tech tried some trickery on its next series. Marcus Davis' weak throw across the field after taking a pitch was easily picked off by Xavier Brewer. Boyd put the game away a short time later with his second 1-yard scoring run.

The Hokies looked to gain a hammerlock early when, up 7-0, they tried to pick up a first down inside Clemson's 20 by twice rushing Michael Holmes on short yardage. Holmes was stopped twice and Clemson took away the momentum.

"We had the chance there to really get up by a couple of touchdowns, and that makes it a different game," Hokies coach Frank Beamer said. "But give them credit. They did a nice job."

Instead of trailing 14-0, Clemson began its comeback with Chandler Catanzaro's 27-yard field goal ? his 20th straight made kick since last season.

Meeks got the first of his two interceptions on Virginia Tech's next series, grabbing Thomas' sailing pass right before going out of bounds. The Hokies gave Clemson even more help on the drive, a short punt bouncing off a Virginia Tech player that Tony Steward recovered as the Tigers kept the ball. Boyd put them ahead for good moments later with a leaping, 1-yard TD.

Two series later, Meeks was at it again, this time, swiping Thomas' pass in the open field and running 74 yards for the score.

Clemson's attack finally got going after halftime. Ellington's touchdown run ended a 52-yard drive before Boyd hit DeAndre Hopkins with a 37-yard scoring pass the next time Clemson had the ball to go up 31-10.

Boyd was sacked five times after Clemson had allowed 10 its first six games.

Virginia Tech had entered this one stung by last year's failures against the Tigers. After dominating Clemson for more than decade, the Hokies were overrun in two games last year, including a 38-10 loss in the ACC title game.

Clemson celebrated Military Appreciation Day and had walk-on receiver Daniel Rodriguez, U.S. Army veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, lead the team's charge down the hill into the stadium carrying the American flag to loud cheers. Rodriguez was also an honorary captain against Virginia Tech, the team he grew up following.

"Everything just aligned for me in the game," Rodriguez said.

Do you have a website identity crisis? ? Toronto Web Design and ...

Website Identity Crisis - Internet Marketing Company - Online Marketing Company TorontoIt?s Small Business Week and there is plenty to do, tradeshows, conferences, seminars and networking. I?ve enjoyed attending several events so far, most notably, Markham Small Business Forum and Enterprise Toronto Small Business Forum.

At the Markham Convergence Centre, there was a great Panel of Entrepreneurs focused on start-ups and micro-biz called: ?Getting Out of the Basement?. The panel included Louie Belcastro, President of The Classic Cuisine; Mike Holmes, President of The Cleaning Guy; and Winston Stewart, Director of Operations for Wincon Security. They told some great genuine stories of how they built their business from scratch and how they made the leap from ?dining-room table? to the boardroom table. The common theme here was drive and perseverance; the core of entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, there was some major life event that motivated them and helped them make the decision to be an entrepreneur. It was very inspiring and insightful.

What else I found interesting was the fact that they funded their respective businesses early on with only family seed money. None of them reached out to the banks until, at earliest, 7 years into operations!

At the Metro Convention Centre, the Enterprise Toronto Small Business Forum was buzzing! Always a great show for start-ups and micro-businesses looking to get some great and FREE information on growing your business. I especially appreciated the seminar on building an online strategy for your small business. Marie confirmed the importance of a web strategy in today?s world and continued to shape her presentation around creating a strong website identity and presence.

Speaking of website identity and presence? these two terms seem to be used interchangeably by many entrepreneurs when the topic of Internet marketing arises, which should not be the case; I?m often asked this question during my Internet marketing seminars. I believe this confusion is what regularly misleads a small business Internet marketing strategy and as a result, creates minimal return for your small business Internet marketing strategy.

In general, an identity is who you are.? More specifically, as it pertains to your small business, what does your business represents; arguably, your brand. Your presence is where your business exists outside of your identity, your image or how the rest of the world sees you.

Bringing it back to your Internet marketing strategy, your web identity IS your website. Your web presence is where you choose to exist in the ever growing world of social media and web marketing to tell consumers: ?Hey! This is who I am, come and check me out!? You can have a web identity without a web presence (your success will be debatable) but you can?t have a web presence without a web identity. That is, creating a Facebook account is just not enough.

In the end, find out where your target market is and this will determine where you should establish a web presence; but it is your web identity, your website, that will help the consumer understand who you are, build the trust and ultimately, purchase your product or service.

Your website is your 7-24-365 sales ?person? who never goes to sleep ? it?s your online identity, so, be sure to treat it with care!

US FOMC Interest Rate | October 24, 2012 | Currency News Trading ...

\"USThe entire financial world will be paying attention to today?s FOMC Statement, although with the Presidential Election just a few weeks away, it is highly unlikely for Bernanke to surprise the market with any additional easing.? Of course,?the unlimited scope of the recently launched QE3 has the market covered until 2014,?market is definitely not expecting anything else from Bernanke today?? Here?s the quick analysis of the September Statement along with my views:

Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in August suggests that economic activity has continued to expand at a moderate pace in recent months [previous "economic activity decelerated somewhat over the first half of this year"]. Growth in employment has been slow, and the unemployment rate remains elevated. Household spending has continued to advance, but growth in business fixed investment appears to have slowed [previous "Business fixed investment has continued to advance. Household spending has been rising at a somewhat slower pace than earlier in the year"]. The housing sector has shown some further signs of improvement, albeit from a depressed level [previous "Despite some further signs of improvement, the housing sector remains depressed."]. Inflation has been subdued, although the prices of some key commodities have increased recently [previous "Inflation has declined since earlier this year, mainly reflecting lower prices of crude oil and gasoline"]. Longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable.

Verdict: Slightly Positive ? Fed mentioned economy expanded, housing sector improvements, and inflation under control.

Consistent with its statutory mandate, the Committee seeks to foster maximum employment and price stability. The Committee is concerned that, without further policy accommodation, economic growth might not be strong enough to generate sustained improvement in labor market conditions [previous "Committee anticipates that the unemployment rate will decline only slowly toward levels that it judges to be consistent with its dual mandate"]. Furthermore, strains in global financial markets continue to pose significant downside risks to the economic outlook. The Committee also anticipates that inflation over the medium term likely would run at or below its 2 percent objective.

Verdict: Slightly Negative ? Fed is worried that without further help, economy won?t recover.

To support a stronger economic recovery and to help ensure that inflation, over time, is at the rate most consistent with its dual mandate, the Committee agreed today to increase policy accommodation by purchasing additional agency mortgage-backed securities at a pace of $40 billion per month [new measures introduced]. The Committee also will continue through the end of the year its program to extend the average maturity of its holdings of securities as announced in June, and it is maintaining its existing policy of reinvesting principal payments from its holdings of agency debt and agency mortgage-backed securities in agency mortgage-backed securities. These actions, which together will increase the Committee?s holdings of longer-term securities by about $85 billion each month through the end of the year, should put downward pressure on longer-term interest rates, support mortgage markets, and help to make broader financial conditions more accommodative [summarizes current measures and objectives].

Verdict: Negative ? Fed announces $40B per month in MBS purchases (QE3?) and maintains Operation Twist, signaling that US economy needs assistance to recover.

The Committee will closely monitor incoming information on economic and financial developments in coming months. If the outlook for the labor market does not improve substantially, the Committee will continue its purchases of agency mortgage-backed securities, undertake additional asset purchases, and employ its other policy tools as appropriate until such improvement is achieved in a context of price stability. In determining the size, pace, and composition of its asset purchases, the Committee will, as always, take appropriate account of the likely efficacy and costs of such purchases [new section describing the new program and what the Feds will do in the future].

Verdict: Negative ? Open ended program gives the Fed maximum flexibility but also keeps the market on watch for more easing by the Feds.

To support continued progress toward maximum employment and price stability, the Committee expects that a highly accommodative stance of monetary policy will remain appropriate for a considerable time after the economic recovery strengthens. In particular, the Committee also decided today to keep the target range for the federal funds rate at 0 to 1/4 percent and currently anticipates that exceptionally low levels for the federal funds rate are likely to be warranted at least through mid-2015 [previous "late 2014"].

Verdict: Negative ? Forward guidance extended by 6 months into 2015. Fed will keep QE running after economy recovery is in place, signaling even more bearish tone for the USD.

Voting for the FOMC monetary policy action were: Ben S. Bernanke, Chairman; William C. Dudley, Vice Chairman; Elizabeth A. Duke; Dennis P. Lockhart; Sandra Pianalto; Jerome H. Powell; Sarah Bloom Raskin; Jeremy C. Stein; Daniel K. Tarullo; John C. Williams; and Janet L. Yellen. Voting against the action was Jeffrey M. Lacker, who opposed additional asset purchases and preferred to omit the description of the time period over which exceptionally low levels for the federal funds rate are likely to be warranted.

Economic Forecast:

\"US

With the Unemployment Rate dropping from the 8.1% level to 7.8% and the fact that all aspects of the economy seem to show signs of?recovery, it would be interesting to see if the?FOMC changes its tone on the economy.??If we get a particularly positive statement over the state of the economy, then fears of the Feds pulling?plug on QE3 may end up driving the market, although it is very unrealistic to even contemplate that, especially?with the Feds openly?committing to keep the?easing policy intact?even after the economic recovery starts to gain momentum? but then again, it never ceases to surprise me how?illogical the market can be sometimes.? Of course, this would be a pro dollar risk adverse move.

On the other hand, if the Feds still keep the same tone?on the painfully slow?recovery, especially?in the employment sector, then it is considered as a potential risk appetite move as there should be no reason to end QE3 early.? We should see USD weaken in this scenario, but JPY will probably be even weaker as the market demand riskier currencies for better return on investment.? This would be?a weak dollar strong euro scenario.

All in all because of the recent action by the Feds, i.e. QE3, I don?t really think we are going to get a surprise today? but then again this will be a good opportunity for the Feds to reassure the market, so I wouldn?t miss this announcement if I were you.
